In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Fire element is one of the Five Elements (Wu Xing) and is associated with:

  • Season: Summer
  • Emotion: Joy
  • Color: Red
  • Climate: Heat
  • Taste: Bitter

Meridians Associated with the Fire Element:

There are four meridians linked to the Fire element, divided into two yin and two yang channels:

1. Heart Meridian (Yin)

  • Governs blood circulation and houses the mind (Shen).
  • Imbalance signs: insomnia, anxiety, palpitations.

2. Small Intestine Meridian (Yang)

  • Separates clear from turbid in digestion.
  • Imbalance signs: abdominal pain, poor digestion, mental confusion.

3. Pericardium Meridian (Yin) (also called Heart Protector)

  • Protects the Heart and governs emotional expression.
  • Imbalance signs: chest tightness, emotional stress.

4. San Jiao (Triple Burner) Meridian (Yang)

  • Regulates water pathways and harmonizes the body’s temperature.
  • Imbalance signs: fluid retention, bloating, hormonal issues.

Together, these meridians help regulate circulation, emotional well-being, and temperature balance in the body.

Somatic awareness exercises drawn from yoga and neurodevelopmental movement , and shiatsu self-massage techniques help us move through the seasons as optimally as possible.

Louisa Raszyk has been studying, practicing and teaching and being passionate about yoga, movement and shiatsu for 30 years. She founded and worked at the Red Earth Centre for 16 years, the first studio in Paris dedicated to somatic exploration.
